Ramadhan Preparation: several hadis about Ramadhan
Hadist about Ramadhan
First Khutbah
Alhamdulillāh, we praise Allah, we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of ourselves and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can misguide, and whomsoever He leaves astray, none can guide.
I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad ﷺ is His servant and Messenger.
O servants of Allah, I advise myself and you to have taqwā of Allah, for taqwā is the best provision, especially as we approach the blessed month of Ramadan.
Ramadan: An Obligation, Not an Option
Brothers and sisters, fasting Ramadan is not a cultural habit—it is a pillar of Islam.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
1️⃣ Obligation of Fasting Ramadan
English
Islam is built upon five: testifying that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing prayer, giving zakah, fasting Ramadan, and pilgrimage to the House.
📖 Bukhari & Muslim
This means Ramadan is a foundation of our faith. If the foundation is weak, the whole structure is in danger. Ramadan is where our obedience, discipline, and sincerity are tested.
When a believer fasts, he is not fasting for health, weight loss, or social pressure. He is fasting because Allah commanded it, and obedience to Allah is the essence of faith.
2️⃣ Forgiveness Through Fasting
English
Explanation
Whoever fasts Ramadan out of faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.
📖 Bukhari & Muslim
This hadith gives us hope.
The Prophet ﷺ connects forgiveness to two conditions:
Īmānan – fasting with true faith
Believing that Allah sees us
Believing that His promise is true
Iḥtisāban – seeking reward only from Allah
Not for praise
Not out of habit
Not because “everyone else is fasting”
When these two are present, Allah promises forgiveness of past sins.
This shows us that Ramadan is not about being perfect—it is about being sincere. No matter how heavy our past may be, Ramadan is a chance to start again.
3️⃣ Virtues of Ramadan
English
When Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained.
📖 Bukhari & Muslim
Explanation
This hadith shows us that Ramadan is unlike any other month.
The doors of Jannah are opened → good deeds are multiplied
The doors of Hellfire are closed → mercy overcomes punishment
The devils are chained → sin becomes easier to leave
If sins continue in Ramadan, it means the struggle is not only against shayṭān—but against our own desires and habits.
Ramadan exposes our hearts. It teaches us that change is possible, and that discipline is achievable when Allah’s help is near.
4️⃣ Laylatul Qadr
English
Whoever stands in prayer on the Night of Decree out of faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.
📖 Bukhari & Muslim
Explanation
Laylatul Qadr is a night that may come once a year, but its reward equals more than 83 years of worship.
Standing in prayer—even briefly—out of faith and sincerity can erase a lifetime of sins. This teaches us that Allah values quality over quantity, and sincerity over long actions without heart.
Brothers and sisters, this hadith is directly explained and supported by the words of Allah ﷻ in the Qur’an.
Explanation:
it means that this night is a night of mercy, forgiveness, and safety until dawn. The angels descend with Allah’s permission, carrying peace and blessings for those who worship sincerely.
Whoever is granted Laylatul Qadr and fills it with faith and remembrance has truly been granted a عظیم blessing.
5️⃣ Blessing of Suhoor
English
Take suhoor, for indeed there is blessing in suhoor.
6️⃣ Hastening Iftar
English
People will remain upon goodness as long as they hasten to break the fast.
7️⃣ Du‘a of the Fasting Person
English
Three supplications are not rejected: the fasting person until he breaks his fast, the just ruler, and the supplication of the oppressed.
📖 Tirmidhi
Explanation
While fasting, a believer is in a state of humility, weakness, and sincerity. That is why Allah accepts his du‘a.
Before iftar is not a time for phones and distractions—it is a time to beg Allah, for ourselves, our families, and the Ummah.
Closing of the First Khutbah
Opening second kutbah
English Message (Opening Reminder)
Servants of Allah,
once again I remind myself and all of you to fear Allah and to be mindful of Him, especially in this blessed month of Ramadan.
Ramadan is not only about completing the fast from dawn until sunset. It is a month in which Allah opens the doors of mercy, forgiveness, and salvation from the Hellfire. It is a month that returns every year, but many who witnessed the previous Ramadan are no longer with us today.
Therefore, let us not be among those who allow Ramadan to pass without change—without repentance, without improvement in prayer, without a stronger connection to the Qur’an. Let us take advantage of the remaining days and nights, for we do not know whether we will meet another Ramadan after this one.
Closing for second kutbah
Closing Khutbah
