The Excellence of reciting Quran

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

1. The prophet SAW said: 

Whoever recites one letter in Qur’an, then for him is one reward and one reward will be replied with ten goodness. Masya Allah, we can get very much rewards by reciting Quran because one letter will be rewarded with ten goodness or rewards. can you imagine how many rewards you can get by reciting Al Fatihah.  

 

In Surah Al-fatihah, there are 139 letters of 29 words, 139 letters times 10 is 1390, so we can get 1390 Letters, every time we recite Al-Fatihah. (Reciting surah Al-fatiha) I have just recited Al- fatihah, as an example. It’s not enough one minute and I have got 1390 Merits (rewards). the continuation of this hadist, the prophet said  

 I don’t said that Alif Lam Min is one letter. But Alif is one letter, Lam is one letter, and Mim is one letter. Allah SWT really emphasizes us to recite Quran. So, let’s use the time very well. Because the purpose of our life in this world is to worship Allah SWT. We love someone because of Allah, we work because of Allah, and we do everything because of Allah SWT in order that all the things that we do will get rewards by Allah SWT. Allah SWT says in Surah Al-An am verse 162  

Say, verily, My Sholat (my prayer), my worship, my life, and my death is only for Allah, the lord of all of universe.

Back to about Qur’an, So, it’s really better too if we can use our time well by reciting or listening to Al Quran, for example, when we ride a motorcycle or drive a car, we can recite or listen to Quran while riding. Of course, that’s better than listening to music or song, because song or music will not make us get the reward. Moreover, if the song has very bad Lyrics like, ask someone to do Maksiat; having an affair, going steady after that kissing and hugging and even Making love, right? there are some songs with such lyrics. Allah SWT says in Surah Al Mu’minun verse 1-3

1.  Indeed, the faithful people are very lucky. 2. They are the ones who concentrate on their Sholat 3. And the ones who keep away from unuseful or unbeneficial things.

The children Hafiz, they can memorize the Quran because they usually hear the recitation of the Quran. So Insha Allah by Always listening Quran we can memorize the Quran or minimum we can easily to memorize the verse or surah because we have been familiar with the sound.

 2.  The prophet SAW said  

Reported by Muslim.

Meaning: Recite the Quran because it will come in the hereafter as syafaat (help) for the ones who diligently recite it. 

So, the Quran will come later as syafaat (helper) if we always recite it. The storybooks, novels, and other books will not become syafaat for us in the hereafter. I don’t forbid you to read the other books but remember and prioritize the Quran to read, start from the language, the translation, and then the interpretations. By reading the translation of the Quran when we don’t know Arabic, we will know many things that Allah wants us to do. We will know the story about the prophets and the unfaithful people how they are destructed by Allah SWT because they were fasik, they didn’t believe the prophet and Allah SWT and many other things that we will know by reading the translation of Quran that can make our faith stronger.

3.  The prophet Muhammad SAW said. 

  

Meaning: The one who can recite the Quran well will be with the noble angel. So, let’s study how to recite Quran well, the makhroj and the tajwid. Never stop studying. Repeat and repeat the lesson that we have and if we don’t have books or lessons about Quran then look for it. We can buy book or download on Youtube about how to recite Qur’an correctly.

Allah SWT also says in surah Al-Muzzammil verse 4, 

warattilil Quranaa tartilla, means and recite the Quran with tartil (well).  Tartil means with correct makhroj, and tajwid.

In another verse Allah SWT says in surah Al Baqarah verse 121 that

The people that we give them the book, they recite it in a correct way, they are the ones who are faithful. And the ones who disbelieve in it, they are the losing ones. Scholars said that Haqqotilawatih means we utilize the oral part, mind, and heart when we recite Quran. It’s said that the oral part we use it well when we can recite Quran with tartil, like Allah SWT, says in surah Al-Muzammil verse 4: warattilil quraana tortilla, it has a meaning; and recite Quran with tartil. The meaning of tartil is we recite Quran correctly with correct Makhroj and Tajweed. And we use our mind and heart in reciting correctly when we can concentrate on the meaning of the verses or surah that we recite by understanding each verse well.   

4. The next one, after we have learned and understood about the Quran is teaching it to the others.

The prophet SAW said 

Reported by Utsman bin Affan R.A said that the prophet SAW said: The best among you is the one who learns the Quran and teaches it. 

By learning seriously and then teaching it, we will get a predicate as the best person Insha Allah. Insha Allah the ones that we teach Quran will teach again to the other people, and we will also get the charity, the continues charity and even though we have passed away we will still get the charity if the lesson that we have taught is continuously taught and applied by other people.     

The prophet SAW said ‘Whoever shows goodness then he will get same reward as the doer.’

5.  The prophet SAW said The Qur’an will be Hujjah that defends you or claims you.

The Quran can be hujjah that can help you if you learn, memorize, and apply it in your life and it can claim you or become your enemy if you don’t apply the content of the Quran. If we want to apply the content of the Qur’an but we don’t know the Arabic, we can read the translation. Even though the translation of the Quran is not the Quran itself and it can’t be translated perfectly with the other language. So if you really want to fully understand the content of the Quran you must learn Arabic.

6.  Allah SWT says in Qur’an, surah Fathir verse 29.  

 

Indeed, those who recite the book of Allah (Quran) and establish prayer and spend out what we have provided them secretly or publicly, expect a trade that will never perish.

So by reciting Quran is like we trade without any risk or loss. Why? Because we will get ten rewards for each letter we recite, Allah will bless us, it will be syafaat later in hereafter, and Insha Allah we will be with the noble angel later in paradise.

After the Quran has absorb to our heart, and reciting Quran becomes our  habit. The other benefit that we need to know is that reciting Quran can be medicine, as Allah SWT says in the Quran surah Al-Isra verse 82

The Scientist in Japan, named Dr. Masaru Emoto with his book ‘messages from water’ also found that when we give sound to water the molecule of the water can change in the water. When we give word like kill, hate, and the heavy metal music toward the water, the structure of the molecule of the water changed to very bad forms and when we give good sound or words to the water such as love, thank you, happiness, truth, and peace the molecule in the water changed to good forms. 

But not only by giving sound to the water, the structure of the molecule changes but also when we write or type something on the bottle or the container of the water, pray to the water, or give positive thoughts, the molecule of the water changes to beautiful forms, according to research of Masaru Emoto.

It is the the effect that occurs if we give to the water itself. What about if we give beautiful sounds, like Quran recitation, and positive thoughts to ourself or our body that contains approximately 70% of water. 

That’s why Allah SWT asks us to perform sholat five times in a day in order that ourself have blessing from God. And in the sholat itself has many prayers, starting from Iftitah, then, surah Alfatihah, Itidal prayer, Ruku prayer, Sujud prayer, Tahhiyat, and until Salam are prayers. Masya Allah. Imagine how the 70 % of water in our body will change. So Insha Allah, by always performing sholat quietly, we will be healthy, and this body that contains 70% water will be always refreshed with positive words in our sholat that might have been polluted with some negative words. It means that if our sholat is good Insha Allah, what we do will be good too.
 As the Firman Allah SWT in surah 29. Al-An Kaboot, verse 45: 

إِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ تَنْهَىٰ عَنِ الْفَحْشَاءِ وَالْمُنْكَرِ

Means: indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing.
